Preeclampsia and eclampsia nursing review for trainees about the pathophysiology, symptoms, and management!
Preeclampsia is a kind of hypertensive disorder that takes place during pregnancy after about 20 weeks gestation. It can also take place after shipment, during the postpartum period. Preeclampsia, if severe enough, can develop into eclampsia. Eclampsia is where the client experiences seizures that can progress to coma or death.
Hallmark signs and symptoms of preeclampsia include: high blood pressure, proteinuria, edema, and signs and symptoms of organ injury. For preeclampsia nursing interventions, please watch the video.
