What is the part of my diet chart?: One of the most important pregnancy questions is what should be in the diet and what should be left out for a healthy baby. Fried foods, ajinomoto, processed food items should not be included in the diet at any stage of pregnancy. A pregnant woman should eat at regular intervals. Lots of green vegetables, pulses, fruits etc. should be an integral part of the diet. However, fruits like papaya are generally not recommended.

Am I pregnant?: The most basic test to confirm a pregnancy is to take a home pregnancy test. But you cannot always rely on them, they can be wrong sometime. Therefore, you should take the pregnancy test at least twice over a span of 4 days to confirm pregnancy. In addition, it is important to keep in mind that a missed period is not always an indication of pregnancy. A medical checkup should be done if you get a positive in your pregnancy test. Nausea, tenderness in breast etc. are also signs of pregnancy.

What exercises I can do and which I should avoid?: Exercising in pregnancy is a good habit however you should not overdo it. Brisk walking, swimming, yoga, Pilates are some types of exercises which you should do during pregnancy and basketball, baseball, skiing, running, horseback riding etc. are some exercises which should be avoided at all costs.

How will my body change?: As the baby grows inside you, your body will experience some changes. Weight gain, tenderness in breasts, pain in lower back, frequent urination, swelling and little flatulence is expected during pregnancy. Every woman experiences different degrees of body changes and they are nothing to be alarmed of, however if the body changes include stretching or pain in abdomen, spotting, contractions, vaginal and urinary discharge or infections, needle like pain in back then they can be a cause of worry and the doctor should be consulted immediately.

What can I drink?: Too much of caffeine can harm the baby. Therefore too much of coffee, tea, aerated drinks like cola should be avoided. You must also avoid all kinds of alcoholic drinks as these can get in the baby’s blood stream and cause harm.
