Thanks to the groundbreaking progress in the field of biological sciences, many successful kinds of infertility treatment have emerged in the past decade or so. The course of treatment is decided after considering some crucial factors like the cause of infertility, age of the man and woman, medical history, if any and obviously, the personal preference of the couple.

Infertility can be caused by a number of factors both in men and women. In the case of women, ovulation problems, damaged fallopian tubes or age can lead to infertility. Generally, if a woman has crossed the age of 35, chances of infertility increase by a huge margin.

When none of these treatments are successful, infertility specialists usually recommend ART or Assisted Reproductive Technology. The most popular form of ART is IVF or In-Vitro Fertilization. Under IVF, the egg and sperm are fertilized outside the body in an artificial medium and the fertilized egg is then placed directly in the uterus. Additionally, ICSI or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is usually used to enhance the success rates of IVF. Other forms of ART include assisted hatching, in which the outer layer of the embryo is opened to assist the implantation process.
Infertility Treatments Options for Men
If infertility is a cause due to premature ejaculation, then it can be treated with a medicinal or behavioral approach. In more serious cases, infertility might be a result of low sperm count or impeded sperm movement. The former can usually be treated by prescribing hormonal medicines which improve the general functioning of the male reproductive system. If there is a certain kind of blockage preventing the flow of sperms, it is either corrected surgically or the sperm is directly removed from the testicles for IVF.
Thus, there is no dearth of infertility treatments for men and women. Having said that, a number of factors need to be taken into consideration before making the final decision. The eventual success or failure of the chosen course of treatment depends heavily on these factors. Therefore, you must consider your doctor or infertility specialist as soon as possible.
