I often speak with people who are having a tough time assessing their ovulation. Or, they are able to evaluate their ovulation but they are discovering that it is not happening at a hassle-free time. I have actually had people ask me if it was possible to eat a particular type of food to either bring ovulation on or to postpone it. I actually heard from someone who stated: “my partner is away on a work job. I feel like I am going to ovulate within the next couple of days. My spouse is not due home until late next week. Somebody told me that if I ate large amounts of sweet potatoes or yams this would delay my ovulation. We want a boy so I understand that I need to wait until after ovulation to have sex to attempt to develop. Should I try consuming tons of yams or sweet potatoes? Would this postpone my ovulation for a week or so?”
Honestly, I would not advocate this practice. I am not a doctor or healthcare specialist. I do know that it is believed that early cultures used sweet potatoes and other foods as a birth control because they had absolutely nothing else. With that said, the factor it is thought that this worked was because this was believed to release progesterone, which in addition to estrogen is one of the active ingredients in contraceptive pill. Here is the issue. (And in my viewpoint, it is a significant issue.) Would you want to take contraceptive pill or something comparable to it when you are attempting to conceive? I would not believe that you would want to do anything that would affect regular, healthy, and foreseeable ovulation. Today, we have modern technology which has made this practice obsolete. And that is most likely not a bad thing.
Your ovulation is caused by the rise and fall of your hormones. This is an extremely fragile balance. And some ladies have problems with fertility because these hormones leave balance. If you are in a circumstance where you are ovulating regularly, then why would you desire to put this cycle in jeopardy? This is only my opinion, naturally, however my guideline is that you should not consume or take in anything (including some supplements) that would have any affect on your hormones which may in turn affect your ovulation and your fertility.
I do understand that planning your conception can appear like a long process, especially since you just get a number of days per cycle in order to have success. However honestly, if you experiment and affect your hormones and your ovulation cycle, then you might be causing hold-ups or abnormality that gives you even less days to work with and likewise makes your ovulation irregular and harder to assess. The important things that this woman had opting for her was that she had a great manage on when she ovulated. This was a benefit that I felt should not be jeopardized. That, she hadn’t mentioned if she was at the best PH in order to conceive a young boy. Since if she were acidic during conception, a woman child was most likely anyhow. Maybe the better tip would be to not eat big amounts of any specific foods, but instead to begin determining and tweaking her PH as needed and then to know that she would have the finest opportunity the next month. Or, if she was fortunate sufficient to be alkaline, she could travel to her husband and develop where he was taking a trip. I understand that this probably wasn’t what she wished to hear, but I wouldn’t promote doing anything that can impact your ovulation. This is too precious a product when you are attempting to conceive.
