Calculating Ovulation and Gender Prediction Methods

If you are planning on having baby soon or in the near future, then it is important to know how to calculate your ovulation. If your cycle is regular and without any medical conditions which will affect your conception, then it is easier than you imagined.

The first thing you must do is to figure out how long your menstrual cycle is. Your cycle starts on the first day you menstruate until the day before the following menstrual period begins. Most women’s cycle is between 28 to 30 days long. If you do not fall into this category, then you will have to use alternate ways, in addition to counting to calculate your ovulation.

Ovulation takes place 14 days prior to the start of your period. So, first work out when your next period is due, then count back 14 days and that will be the start of ovulation for you. If you want conceive, then you will have to plan intercourse 3 days prior to ovulation as well as two days before, 1 day before and the day of ovulation. Just bear in mind that some sperm can last up to 5 days. Do an internet search for free ovulation calendar which will indicate when your most fertile days are.

Ovulation is best described as the time when the ovary releases a mature egg from the follicle. This egg is then ready to be fertilized by the male sperm.

In addition to calculating your dates of ovulation, there are some other natural, physical symptoms of ovulation you must be aware of and be on the lookout for.

Your breasts becoming tenderer: This change you will notice as you approach the middle of your cycle as your hormone levels change and as a result of ovulation.

Ovulation Mucus:

It is important to note the change in your vaginal mucus or discharge. The amount of discharges is more than usual and there is a change in its consistency. The mucus now has the look of egg-white and is more slippery than normal. This indicates that you are now in a very fertile position and the function of this mucus is to provide the sperm with a friendly environment to thrive in.

Note an increase in your sexual desire:

Ever noticed that there are days of the month when your desire for intercourse are higher than other days of the month? Well, these are your days when you are supposed to conceive and when you are most fertile. Isn’t it amazing how our bodies can “talk” to us?

After Ovulation:

The days following ovulation, you will notice that your vaginal mucus will again change in colour and consistency. It will become stickier and cloudier. At this time your body will not be very perceptive to sperm and when you have passed the ovulation period, you are now at very low fertility level.

Ovulation and Gender Selection:

If you want to have a girl baby, then you must plan intercourse approximately two days prior to ovulation. The sperm that creates a girl baby is more hardy than the sperm that creates a boy baby and they can live up to five days. The boy sperm has a shorter lifespan than the girl sperm and therefore will not last as long and would already have died off by the time the egg has been released.

If your choice is a boy baby, then plan intercourse during your most fertile period as the boy sperm are quicker than the girl sperm and will reach the already released egg first for fertilisation.
