Becoming Pregnant After 40

There are a lot of women out there that are feeling the pressure to get pregnant as soon as possible because they have been led to believe that getting pregnant after 40 just is not possible. Some think that it is possible, but that it is extremely hard to do. The simple fact is that yes, women can become pregnant after forty and there are some things that need to be addressed in order to make sure that it happens as easily as possible. So, you have time. Relax.

If you are already over 40 or approaching that age, you might want to start thinking about all of the factors that need to be considered for getting pregnant at this stage in your life. One thing you will want to address is your weight. Not only should you make sure that you are not overweight, you are going to want to make sure that you are not underweight as well.

You will also want to stop smoking. Even though you might think that smoking is mostly just hurting your lungs, it is in fact going to make it harder for you to conceive. Not only will quitting smoking help you conceive, it will help to ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Even though you might not like to think about it, caffeine can really do a number on your chance to conceive. You are going to want to completely remove the caffeine from your daily diet. If this is too hard to do all at once, you are going to simply want to wean yourself off of it, slowly, one day at a time. You might experience headaches and this is normal, but you will eventually start to feel a lot better. It is also very important to make sure that you are not drinking excessively. A glass or two each week of a nice red wine is one thing, but anything above that should be avoided.

Any woman that is experiencing depression, no matter how mild it is, needs to have that treated. Not only is this something that you would want to do in general, whether or not you are trying to conceive, it is something that you need to address specifically if you are trying to get pregnant. This is because women who are depressed have a harder time conceiving.

As you can see, you may be able to get pregnant after 40, but you are going to have to make sure that you are extra aware of the things that will help to make sure that it happens for you. The more effort you put forth in these changes, the better your odds will be of conceiving.
