It is quite difficult to tell what’s right and what’s not sometimes. For one, is abortion a necessity and should it be allowed? A gift of technology, many countries are still thinking about whether abortion should be legalized. Today, there still are some people who consider women inferior to them. Abortion can be done for a number of reasons. Be it for having an unwanted pregnancy or having a girl child, the reasons for abortion varies. Here is a look at some of the reasons.
Unwanted female child
Even today there are incidents wherein a female is forced to have an abortion because the child in her womb is a female. Surveys show that these incidents are more in cases of developing countries where the socio-economic status is low and a girl child is still believed to be a burden on her parents. In a world where women are outdoing men in every possible manner and in all the spheres of life, there are still families who do not want a girl child as having a girl child not only increases their responsibilities but also is thought to be financial burden.
Who has the right to decide to go for an abortion?
Looking at the rules and regulations of various countries, it can be said that the law of most of the countries regard the pregnant woman as the whole and soul decision maker when it comes to opting for an abortion. It is thought that since the female bears the child in her womb for nine long months, she has the right to take the decision whether her child should come in this world or not. However, women are often forced to undergo abortions, from the pressure of their husband, in-laws or even the society in which she lives.
Failure to take responsibility
A pregnant female is also forced to have abortion because her partner refuses to take the responsibility of the child. This is particularly important in cases where pregnancy occurs before marriage. The incidence of forced abortions are increasing because of this especially in the developed countries where pre-marital sex is not considered to be a crime and is legal.
Whatever may be the case, women should be considered as equal to men and should not be forced to undergo abortions. After all, abortion isn’t just going under the knife; it’s ending a potential life. Women have more of a right when it comes to taking the decision to undergo abortion.
