Are you one of those women who had a career or just did not think there was time in your life for a pregnancy after 40? For those who have and are now ready to have a child, the consequences may be severe. The older you are, the more trouble you will have bearing children. Fertility experts will tell you this because they witness first hand what age can do to the woman body. This is not to say that you will not be one of the lucky ones who find themselves pregnant in mid life. If you do, there are many positive things you should focus on.
One of the positive things about having a pregnancy after 40 is the ability to be patient with them. You have waited so long and seem to want to enjoy every minute of it. The child is more financially cared for. You have taken the time to build up a good life and the child will benefit from it. Your spouse and yourself have built a good relationship together and will provide a solid footing for the child to grow up in. Mothers who wait to have children tend to be smarter and more educated than those who do not. They are better at making decisions when raising the child. They also choose to breastfeed since they have more time and are into taking better care of themselves.
Financially speaking, waiting to have a pregnancy after 40 is a good move. Each year a woman waits to have a child gives her more money to later raise the child with. They also tend to take shorter maternity leave from work making it less of a burden on the family with only one income. The couple will focus on the child more than themselves. They have had time to run and be wild and free. They are ready to have the child and it is now the center of their life. They are also more secure in their jobs and have been working in their chosen career for a long period of time. They just know who they are and the child will find their parents to be a strong support for them.
Younger parents tend to stress over things more. There is less time to focus on themselves and their education. This leads to parents who are working more to support their child when they are younger. They are having to go to school, work, and raise their child. Older parents already have their jobs settled and secure. They have a more structured routine and have been practicing it for a longer amount of time. It may seem to some that pregnancy after 40 has more health risks, it is a pretty good environment once the baby is born.
