Tips On How To Conceive A Boy Based On The Shettles Method

First of all it is the man who determines the gender of the baby so basically everything should be done to ensure that the man feels good.

Often men like wearing tight underpants but this often inhibits his genitalia as well as overheating them. This may reduce the number of sperm he produces. Boxer shorts are the better option, especially if he and his partner want to conceive a boy.

Also, while it is not true that one testicle produces X sperm and the other Y sperm but both testicles produce X and Y sperm together, it can happen that some men produce a better quality of either X or Y sperm. This may be why certain families have boys and other families just have girls.

It is interesting that boy sperm (so the Y chromosome) is not as strong or as resilient as girl sperm (X chromosome) and after 24 hours after ejaculation, they are no longer capable to fertilizing an egg. This is why timing ovulation is important if you want to conceive a boy. Interestingly girl sperm can still fertilize an egg 4-5 days after ejaculation! It’s a wonder there aren’t more girls around!

Therefore another tip is to have sex on the day the woman ovulates but no earlier than 24 hours before ovulation. 12 hours before ovulation is even better. So charting temperatures and ovulation can help. The Shettles Method claims that chances rise considerably of having a boy when conception occurs when the woman ovulates. Also according to this method you should avoid sex 12 hours since ovulation.

If the woman still doesn’t know she is ovulating despite charting her temperature, she could feel a pain on one side (in the lower pelvis area) which occurs around half way mark to her next period. Another sign is a change in the cervical mucous – it becomes clearer and is more watery and stretchy – sort of like an egg white.

You could also buy an ovulation monitoring kit which detects hormonal changes.

With charting temperature, the woman needs to check her basal body temperature which is the lowest temperature during rest and sleep. Just before ovulation this temperature rises a couple of degrees. If you chart this basal temperature for a couple of months, you will get to know the peak times you are fertile.

It helps if the man deeply penetrates and that the woman has an orgasm (or orgasms) as this way the alkaline properties of the vagina helps the sperm do their work. Deep penetration, on the other hand, gets the sperm as close to the cervix as possible and therefore it’s easier to get the egg in the fallopian tube.

Apparently it’s a good idea to have some sort of energy drink beforehand – coffee, chocolate or an energy drink.

Male sperm enjoy an alkaline environment in the vagina so it could help if the woman eats foods to encourage this. So foods like bread, avocado, pine nuts, almonds, cherries, sprouts and wheatgrass are great whereas you should avoid spicy foods, dairy, foods with a tart/tangy flavor.

There is also the chance that taking a supplement of Evening Primrose oil each day might help to conceive a boy.
